Deal & Walmer Chamber of Trade

The Deal and Walmer Chamber of Trade currently holds a membership of nearly 120 small, medium, and large businesses. Its original purpose was to “To promote and protect the trade, commerce, manufactures and professional interests of the Borough of Deal and surrounding districts”. It is not a division of the district or county council and is not directed or governed by the British Chambers of Commerce or any other larger organization. It remains an independent body run by a handful of volunteers.

Dover District Council is the local district council responsible for much of the funding, management, and administration for the Dover Area. On this website you will be able to:

Kent County Council

Kent County Council governs much of the County of Kent, with the exception of the Medway Towns. It consists of twelve district councils and over three hundred town and parish councils (Of which Walmer is one). It is one of the largest local authorities in England in terms of population served and the largest local authority of its type.

Kent Coast Volunteering - provide transport services for hospital trips by volunteers 

Kent Coast Volunteering provides an essential, volunteer-led community transport service for the Dover District, Folkestone and Hythe and Thanet plus surrounding villages. It enables residents to attend Hospital, GP and dental appointments, as well as visit relatives, go shopping or attend social events.

Deal Repair Cafe

Deal Repair Café are a group of volunteers that can help with the repair of all kinds of personal belongings, from appliance repair, to sewing and alterations, to fixing up your old bicycle. They can be found every second Saturday of the month at community centres throughout Deal.

Deal Pantry

Pantries stock an abundant and wide range of top-quality food including fresh fruit and veg, frozen and chilled food, meat and dairy products, and long-life tinned and packaged food.

Members pay a small subscription of a few pounds a week, and in return can choose groceries worth many times more, often saving up to £1,000 a year on shopping bills. Members can also choose a from a wide range of groceries, including fresh fruit and vegetables and family favourites to stock up the cupboard, fridge and freezer.

Car Sharing

 

Car sharing programs are available within Walmer for those who find it difficult to use a car on the road, in order to to commute to work / study or may be vulnerable people with problems getting to hospital appointments due to travel issues.

DefibFinder is designed to help the public familiarise themselves with the locations of their nearest defibrillators. So that in an emergency when directed by a 999 call handler, they will already know the defibrillator's location.
