Walmer Town Council has several green areas that it owns that contain numerous types of wildlife and plants. Several of these include a number of trees that need to be checked over every few years to ensure they are healthy and well tended to, however there are those that reach the end of their lives or are infected with disease that have to be removed.
Every two to three years, trees at locations administered by the council are surveyed and checked by a professional arboriculturist. This allows the council to know what trees are damaged and which may need tending to, or need to be cut down due to disease or old age.
During 2026 Hawkshill Freedown and Walmer Peace Garden underwent their most recent tree survey courtesy of Invicta Arboriculture. Thanks to this survey both areas have been found to have good, healthy trees over most of their areas. Unfortunately we have also found that several trees have died with others very close, these trees have been removed with others with damaged or dead branches being worked on soon.
Below we have added tree surveys from 2024 and 2026 for those of you who wish to know exactly what the reports entail.
